Audible Warning Device: Testing and Inspection
A buzzer module is used on models that are not equipped with the optional Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS).
1. Check the fuse(s) in the fuseblock module and the relay and fuse block. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, replace the faulty fuse(s).
2. Check for battery voltage at the fused B(+) fuse in the relay and fuse block. If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, repair the open circuit from the Power
Distribution Center as required.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Check for battery voltage at the fused ignition switch output (RUN/START) fuse in the fuseblock
module. If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the open circuit to the ignition switch as required.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Replace the buzzer module with a known good unit and test its operation. If OK, discard the faulty
buzzer module. If not OK, remove the test buzzer module and go to Step 5.
5. Check for battery voltage at the fused B(+) circuit cavity of the buzzer module wire harness connector, If OK, go to Step 6. If not OK, repair the
open circuit to the relay and fuse block fuse as required.
6. Check for continuity between each of the two ground circuit cavities of the buzzer module wire harness connector and a good ground. There
should be continuity. If OK and the problem being diagnosed is related to the audible seat belt reminder function of the buzzer module, go to Step
7. If OK and the problem being diagnosed is for any other function of the buzzer module, see the diagnosis for the switch related to the buzzer
malfunction. If not OK, repair the open circuit to ground as required.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. With the driver side seat belt unbuckled, check for battery voltage at the seat belt switch sense circuit
cavity of the buzzer module wire harness connector. If OK, replace the faulty buzzer module. If not OK, see Driver Seat Belt Switch.
