Heater Core: Service and Repair

FRONT

The heater-A/C housing assembly must be removed from the vehicle to service the front heater core.  For these procedures. Refer to: "Housing
Assembly HVAC : Service and Repair.  See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Housing Assembly HVAC/Service and Repair

REAR (HEATER ONLY)

Removal
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the rear heater assembly.
3. Remove the screws that secure the heater cover to the heater assembly The heater core is removed as a unit with the coven
4. Remove the heater core from the heater cover.

Installation
1. Assemble the heater core to the heater cover.
2. Position the heater core and cover unit in the heater assembly and install the mounting screws.
3. Install the rear heater assembly.
4. Connect the battery negative cable. 

REAR (HEATER AND A/C)

Removal
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to: "Engine, Cooling and Exhaust : Service and Repair" See: Service and Repair
3. From under the vehicle, disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the heater core tubes.
4. Remove the screws that secure rear heater-A/C housing lower cover to the housing, and remove the cover.
5. Remove the heater core tube seal and cover plate.
6. Remove the screws from the heater core support bracket and remove the support bracket.
7. Remove the heater core from the housing.

Installation
1. Install the heater core in the rear heater-A/C housing.
2. Install the heater core support bracket and the mounting screws.
3. Install the heater core tube seal and cover plate.
4. Position the lower cover on the housing and install the mounting screws.
5. Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the heater core tubes.
6. Fill the engine cooling system.
7. Connect the battery negative cable.
