Overdrive Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the knee blocker as described.
3. Remove the screws that secure the hood release handle to the instrument panel and lower the handle.
4. Reach under the instrument panel and unplug the wire harness connector(s) from the switch(es).
5. Remove the switch as follows:

Power Mirror And Overdrive Lockout Switches Remove/Install

(a) For the mirror switch, remove the control knob by pulling straight back from the switch. Remove the two screws that secure the switch

mounting plate to the instrument panel and pull the switch from behind the instrument panel.

(b) For the overdrive lockout switch, reach behind the instrument panel and depress the locking tabs on each side of the switch. Pull the switch out

of the bezel from the front of the instrument panel.

6. Reverse the removal procedures to install.
