Rear Door Hinge: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove the interior trim panel for access to the door pillar hinge screws (Fig. 12).
2. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark a reference outline of the hinge on the door inner side panel and the door pillar.
3. Support the door with a padded floor jack.
4. Remove the door pillar hinge screws.
5. Remove the door hinge screws. Remove the hinge from the door and door pillar.

INSTALLATION

1. Color coat the hinge to match the vehicle color.
2. Lubricate the hinge with engine oil.
3. Position the hinge on the door and install the door hinge screws finger tight.
4. Install the door pillar hinge screws finger tight.
5. Align the hinge with the installation reference marks on the door inner side panel and the door pillar.
6. Tighten all the hinge screws to 23 N.m (200 in. lbs.) torque.
7. Remove the floor jack from the door.
8. If necessary, adjust the door in the body opening. Refer to Body and Frame/Specifications/Dimensions.
9. Install the interior trim panel.
