NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.9L 24 VALVE CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE (SALES CODE ETC).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
An audible buzz coming from the accelerator pedal when the cruise control is engaged.
DIAGNOSIS:
Perform a road test on the vehicle that will allow you to safely and legally operate the cruise control at highway/interstate speeds. Once the vehicle has
reached highway/interstate speeds, set the cruise control and listen for a audible buzz coming from the accelerator pedal.
NOTE:
DO NOT ALLOW YOUR FOOT TO TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ONCE THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED.
If the accelerator pedal buzzes when the cruise control is engaged, confirm that the buzz is coming from the accelerator pedal by applying light pressure
to the pedal with your foot to verify that the buzz is dampened. If the accelerator pedal buzzes when the cruise control is engaged and is dampened when
pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal, perform the Repair Procedure as shown.
