Flash: Update to Transmission OBDII calibrations
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the JTEC Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software (03CAL17A).

NOTE:
THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 5.9L 24-VALVE DIESEL ENGINE (SALES CODES ETC, OR ETH) AND
47RE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (SALES CODE DGP) AND BUILT BEFORE SEPTEMBER 25, 2002.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers with California emission vehicles may complain the vehicle will not shift out of 1st gear or is stuck in 3rd gear. No Diagnostic Trouble Code
(DTC) will be generated and no MIL illumination will occur.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle is equipped with a Cummins Diesel engine, 47RE Automatic Transmission, and was built before September 25, 2002, perform the Repair
Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
WHENEVER A PCM/TCM IS REPLACED OR REPROGRAMMED, THE SOFTWARE IN THE CONTROLLER AND DRBIII(R) MUST
BE VERIFIED AS HAVING THE LATEST REVISION LEVEL.
1.
Connect a battery charger and set as close to 14 volts charge as possible.
2.
Flash the PCM using the MDS2 (Mopar Diagnostic System) and DRBIII(R).
