If the fuel tube is damaged from contact with the heat shield bolt, the fuel tube must be replaced. Continue with Section B -- Replace Chassis
Fuel Tube.
NOTE:
The fuel tube is considered damaged if the bolt contact caused an indentation in the tube. Fuel tubes that only have scratches or scrapes on the
fuel tube surface do NOT require replacement.

If the fuel tube is not damaged, Continue with Section C -- Remove Center Heat Shield Bolt.
B. Replace Chassis Fuel Tube
NOTE:
Only those vehicles that have damaged fuel tubes, as determined by the inspection in Section A, require replacement. Very few vehicles are expected
to require fuel tube replacement.
1.
Lower the vehicle.
2.
With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the battery.
Note:
To enhance customer satisfaction, remember to reset the clock when you have completed the service procedure.

Remove the fuel tank filler tube cap.
WARNING:
The fuel system may be under pressure even with the engine off. Before removing the fuel tank, the fuel system pressure must be released.

Remove the protective cap from the pressure test port on the fuel rail. The test port is located on the top of the fuel rail near the throttle position
sensor.
5.
Place one end of the fuel hose from the fuel pressure gauge tool set 5069 into an approved gasoline container.
6.
Place a shop towel under the test port.
7.
Release the fuel pressure by attaching the other end of the fuel hose onto the fuel pressure test port.
8.
Remove the fuel hose and reinstall the test port cap.
9.
Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
10.
Disconnect the fuel filler and fuel vent hoses from the fuel tank (Figure 3).
11.
Insert a fuel drain/siphon hose into the tank filler tube nipple and drain the fuel into an approved gasoline holding tank.
