Open the tailgate fully with a hard, rapid motion. Then carefully close the tailgate so as to not damage the loose check cable, bed body, or tailgate.

Repeat the above step several times (as necessary). This action will correctly tension and seat the attached check cable

7.

Install the loose check cable to the cargo box / bed body and verify appearance of both check cables.
