NOTE:
This recall applies only to certain vehicles equipped with a California emission control system (sales code NAE) built through April 30, 1998 (MDH
0430XX).
Subject
The On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system on about 18,000 of the above vehicles may not detect evaporative emissions purge system malfunctions as
required by California Emission Regulations.
Repair
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must be reprogrammed (flashed).
Parts Information
Each dealer to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address) will receive enough Authorized Software
Update labels and Authorized Modifications labels to service about 25% of those vehicles. Additional labels may be ordered as needed.

Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record recall
service completions and provide dealer payments.
