Rear Antilock Valve Replacement

W/ Inline Brake Booster

The rear anti-lock valve must be removed in order to remove the combination valve.

1. Disconnect wiring at combination valve switch terminal, then disconnect harness connector at rear anti-lock valve connector terminal.
2. Disconnect combination valve bracket ground wire, then remove coolant overflow bottle from radiator support panel.
3. Remove windshield washer reservoir and pump assembly from radiator support panel, then remove line connecting rear anti-lock valve to

combination valve.

4. Disconnect rear brake line at rear anti-lock valve, then remove bolt securing rear anti-lock valve to combination valve bracket using a suitable

socket and extension.

5. Remove rear anti-lock valve and cover brake line ends to prevent entry of foreign matter, then disconnect line between front anti-lock valve and

combination valve.

6. Disconnect brake lines between master cylinder and combination valve, then remove nuts securing combination valve bracket to master cylinder

mounting studs.

7. Remove combination valve and mounting bracket assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Thread brake line fittings into inlets prior to final tightening of component mounting bolts. This will prevent cross-threading due to

misalignment.

b. Torque combination valve bracket mounting nuts to 16-21 ft. lbs.
c. Bleed brake system as described under Antilock Brake System/Service and Repair.

W/ Transverse Brake Booster

1. If removing anti-lock valve without combination valve, proceed as follows:

a. Disconnect wires at combination valve switch terminal, harness connector at rear anti-lock valve terminal and ground wire at combination

valve bracket.

b. Remove line between rear anti-lock valve and combination valve, then disconnect rear brake hydraulic lines at rear anti-lock valve.
c. Disconnect master cylinder lines at combination valve, then remove bolt securing rear anti-lock valve to combination valve bracket.
d. Remove rear anti-lock valve and cover brake line ends to prevent entry of foreign matter.

2. If removing anti-lock valve and combination valve, proceed as follows:

a. Remove windshield washer reservoir for additional clearance, then disconnect harness wires at rear anti-lock and combination valve switch.
b. Disconnect ground wire at combination valve bracket, then disconnect front and rear anti-lock valve hydraulic lines at combination valve.
c. Disconnect master cylinder hydraulic lines at combination valve, then remove screws securing combination valve bracket to master cylinder

mounting bracket.

d. Remove combination valve and rear anti-lock valve as an assembly; then, if necessary, separate anti-lock valve from combination valve.

3. Reverse procedure to install. Bleed brake system as described under Antilock Brake System/Service and Repair.
