NOTE:
This notification applies only to the above vehicles built with an automatic transmission.
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this service procedure on these vehicles before retail
delivery. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.
Subject
The Owner's Manual in about 152,000 of the above vehicles contains a statement that was included inadvertently. This statement indicates that the above
vehicles are equipped with an "interlock brake system." This is incorrect. There is no device on these vehicles that requires the brake pedal to be
depressed before the transmission can be shifted from the park position. However, it is a safe driving practice to always depress the brake pedal before
the transmission is shifted into a drive gear from either the neutral or park position.
Repair
All owners known to DaimlerChrysler will have an owner notification letter mailed to them.
For vehicles in your dealer's used truck inventory, a copy of the owner notification letter must be placed in the vehicle's Owner's Manual or glove box.

No parts are required to perform this service procedure.
Service Procedure
For vehicles in your used truck inventory, make a copy of the owner notification letter and then place the copy in the vehicle's Owner's Manual or glove
box.
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
Claims for vehicles that have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record service
completions and provide dealer payments.
Use the labor operation number and time allowance shown.

(1). Enter $5.00 WITH NO MARK UP for letter handling reimbursement.
