Diagnostic Connector (Behind Glove Compartment)

Connect terminal # 10 of the self-diagnosis connector to ground, using a jumper wire with alligator clips.

Start the engine and let it run at idle.

Check the idle speed to ensure it is at the CURB idle speed. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS.
If the idle speed is within specifications. Proceed to step # 7.
NOTE:
If the idle speed does not meet specifications, check for the following conditions before adjusting the CURB idle speed.
^ If the engine is stalling or the idle speed is below specifications, check for deposits stuck to the back of the throttle valve. If so, the throttle
valve needs be cleaned.
Fixed Idle Speed Adjusting Screw
^ If the engine idle speed is above specifications and the Standard Idle Speed Adjusting Screw is fully closed, check for indications that the
Fixed SAS (Speed Adjusting Screw) has been changed.
If there is such an indication, proceed to FIXED SAS ADJUSTMENT .
If there is no indication, perform a thorough visual inspection, and check for air leakage around the fast idle air valve.
Standard Idle Speed Adjusting Screw
If none of the conditions apply, then adjust the idle speed by turning the Standard Idle Speed Adjusting Screw.
7.
Turn off the engine.

Disconnect the grounding jumper wire from the diagnosis connector.
