Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Throttle Body
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), is a rotating type, variable resistor, which changes resistance as the throttle shaft is rotated. The Electronic
Control Unit (ECU), computes the throttle valve opening based on the voltage dropped across this varying resistance, and accordingly adjusts fuel
injector pulse width, to achieve the desired acceleration.
