Oil Pump: Service and Repair

NOTE: Oil pan must be removed prior to removing oil pump.

1.

Remove accessory drive belt ass outlined under ``Drive Belts.''

2.

Remove timing belt as outlined under ``Timing Belt, Replace,'' then the crankshaft pulley.

3.

Remove oil pan.

4.

Remove five retaining bolts holding oil pump to block., and remove pump rear cover (bolt inside crankcase).

5.

Check pump condition and perform checks shown.

6.

Install pump with proper length bolts in correct position and torque to specifications.

Inspection

1.

Measure the following oil pump clearances:

Endplay should be 0.0010-0.0035 in.
