SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Customers may complain of an oil leak in the filter bracket area. On vehicles with the engine build dates of 7-031 through 7-212, the surface between the
engine block and oil filter bracket may be mis-machined. This surface may cause an oil leak at the oil filter bracket. A special oil filter bracket gasket is
now available, and will compensate for the surface irregularities.

NOTE:

THE ENGINE BUILD DATE IS LOCATED ON THE TAG ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE AIR INTAKE PLENUM, SEE ILLUSTRATION.

DIAGNOSIS:

Visually inspect for leakage between the engine block and oil filter bracket. Verify the engine build date is from 7-031 through 7-212, if it is, proceed
with the repair procedure.

CAUTION:
USING THIS SPECIAL GASKET ON ENGINE BLOCKS OTHER THAN SPECIFIED, WILL RESULT IN AN OIL LEAK.
