Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect and remove battery cables.
2. Remove battery heat shield, hold-down clamp and battery from tray, then lift access cover off tray.
3. Remove speed control vacuum reservoir from battery tray without disconnecting vacuum lines, then remove battery tray from vehicle.

4. Remove battery acid shield from modulator assembly, then remove 6 nuts securing tube bundle to modulator.
5. Separate tube bundle from modulator assembly, then disconnect 10-way connector at modulator.
6. Remove bolts securing front and lower portions of modulator assembly to mounting bracket, then remove assembly from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque modulator assembly mounting bolts to 21 ft. lbs.
b. Torque tube bundle fittings to 13 ft. lbs.
c. Bleed ABS components and basic brake system as described under Antilock Brake System/Service and Repair/Brake System Bleed.
