Air Cleaner And Throttle Body

WARNING:  The fuel system is under constant pressure, of approximately 39 psi (270 kPa), even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel
pressure before servicing any fuel system component. 

CAUTIONS:

Always assemble throttle body using new O-rings and seals.

Never use silicone lubricants on O-rings or seals, as damage may result.

Use care when removing fuel tubes to prevent damage to quick connect fittings or tube ends.  

REMOVAL

1. Remove air cleaner, and release fuel system pressure.  See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 
3. Disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connectors from throttle body.
4. Disconnect cables, and throttle return spring from throttle body.
5. Remove fuel tube clamp, (attaching tubes to valve cover).
6. Clean the quick connect fittings, if needed. Place shop towel around connections to be opened and disconnect intake and return tubes.
7. Remove throttle body mounting screws, and remove throttle body.

INSTALLATION

1. Install throttle body with new gasket and torque mounting nuts to 20 Nm (175 in-lbs).
2. Lubricate fuel tube ends with clean 30 weight engine oil. Connect fuel intake and return tubes. (To ensure good connection, pull on tubes.)
3. Install fuel tube clamp on valve cover, and tighten.
4. Install cables and return spring.
5. Install wiring connectors, vacuum hoses, and air cleaner.
6. Connect negative battery cable.
7. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
8. Check for leaks.
