Detonation (Knock) Sensor: Description and Operation
Knock Sensor Operation
The detonation sensor is a signal generator that operates when a spark knock occurs in the combustion chambers. The sensor is mounted in the intake
manifold where it can detect detonation in any of the cylinders. The sensor informs the engine controller to adjust the spark advance and turbo boost
schedules in order to eliminate detonation.
