Hydraulic Assembly Internal Leak Test

Some diagnostic procedures require testing the hydraulic assembly for internal leaks. This is made possible by using the ABS hydraulic circuit test gauge
tool No. 6685. The test gauge installation and operation procedure is as follows:

1. De-pressurize the system as outlined in "De-Pressurizing Hydraulic Accumulator" under "Precautions."
2. Remove wiring harness connector from dual function pressure switch on bottom of hydraulic assembly.
3. Connect wiring harness from test gauge tool into wiring harness removed from dual function pressure switch.
4. Locate high pressure brake fluid hose going from hydraulic assembly to pump/motor.
5. Remove high pressure hose tube nut from fitting on hydraulic assembly.
6. Verify shutoff valve on test gauge in in the open position then install test gauge tool inline with high pressure hose. Torque test gauge tool to

hydraulic assembly fitting and high pressure brake fluid hose to test gauge tool fitting to 145 in. lbs.

7. Install MST-6163 pressure tester tool as outlined under "MST-6163 Pressure Tester."
8. Perform the required diagnostic test to diagnose the failure and make required repairs.
9. De-pressurize the system as outlined in "De-Pressurizing Hydraulic Accumulator" under "Precautions."

10. Remove all special tools.
11. Install accumulator port plug and torque to 9 ft. lbs.
12. Install high pressure brake fluid hose and torque fitting to 145 in. lbs.
13. Turn ignition switch to the Run position to energize the pump/motor assembly and pressurize hydraulic assembly system then check for leaks.
14. Again de-pressurize the system as outlined in "De-Pressurizing Hydraulic Accumulator" under "Precautions."
15. Check brake fluid level in the hydraulic assembly reservoir. If low fill using DOT 3 brake fluid.
