Prior to strut mount replacement, follow the procedure outlined below to test strut mount vertical/lateral movement on subject vehicles equipped with
single path strut mounts.
Strut Mount Vertical Clearance
1.. Position the vehicle on a frame contact hoist so that the weight of the wheel assemblies hang freely. This should allow the strut rebound retainer to
contact the strut mount.

Using a scale, measure the distance between the rebound retainer and the strut mount and record (Figure 1).

Lower the vehicle completely to the floor with the vehicle weight on all four wheels. Again measure the distance between the strut rebound
retainer and the strut mount in the same location as in Step 2.
NOTE:
DO NOT LEAN ON VEHICLE WHEN MAKING THIS MEASUREMENT.

The difference in the two measurements is the strut mount vertical clearance.
