Speedometer Head: Testing and Inspection
Speedometer Pins
NOTE: The speedometer has two main parts: the indicator head and the speedometer drive cable. When the speedometer fails to indicate speed or
mileage, the cable or housing is probably broken.
1.
Remove speedometer assembly from the cluster.
2.
With ignition switch in On position, check for battery voltage across B+ pin and ground pin.
3.
Check for continuity in wire between distance sensor signal pin and distance sensor.
4.
If wiring continuity is OK, test for a faulty distance sensor. SEE Computerized Engine Controls.
5.
If distance sensor proves good, replace the speedometer.
