Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Fuel system pressure must be released prior to service. See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair
2.
Disconnect negative battery cable and remove air cleaner assembly.
Quick Connect Fuel Fittings
3.
Disconnect the Quick-Connect fittings from the chassis fuel tubes.
4.
Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose at the regulator.
5.
Disconnect fuel injector harness electrical connector from the main engine harness.

6.
Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts. Push the oil separator bracket out of the way.
7.
Remove the fuel rail and injector assembly by pulling the rail so that the injectors come straight out of their ports.
8.
Inspect injector O-rings upon removal and discard any that appear damaged or worn.
9.
Cover fuel injector ports while injectors are removed.
10.
Do not disassemble the fuel rail until it has been removed from the vehicle.
