Air Bag: Service and Repair
Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, you must first disarm the airbag system, as outlined in
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING AND DISARMING. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible
personal injury.

REPLACEMENT
If replacing a deployed module, wear gloves and eye protection. There will be deposits on and around the airbag that could cause skin and
eye irritation. If material does come into contact with the body, flush with plenty of cold water. Refer to AIRBAG MODULE DISPOSAL under
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES for proper disposal procedure of a deployed airbag.
1.
Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
2.
Using a 10 mm thin wall, remove four holding airbag module in place on steering wheel.
3.
Lift module high enough to remove clockspring connecting wire and remove airbag module.
4.
If replacing a deployed module, clockspring must also be replaced. Refer to CLOCKSPRING.
5.
Reverse procedure to install and torque nuts to 80-100 lb-in.
