6. Using a pair of needle nose locking pliers, grab the end coil of the spring and remove the upper brake shoe retracting spring (Figure 2).

7. Unscrew and remove the adjuster screw located on the backside of the brake backing plate.

8. Carefully pull the top of the shoes apart and remove the old park brake adjuster mechanism (Figure 3).
