Rear A/C Evaporator - Installation

INSTALLATION

CAUTION:  Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant
oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

NOTE:  When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to
the refrigerant system.

NOTE:  If only the rear A/C evaporator is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only
refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

NOTE:  Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals
may result in a refrigerant system leak.

1. Position the rear A/C evaporator (4) into the top of the rear evaporator housing.
2. Install the evaporator retaining bracket (5) and screws (6). Tighten the bolts to 3 Nm (26 in. lbs.).
3. Engage the rear evaporator temperature sensor (3) to the rear evaporator housing.
4. Install the rear evaporator insulator and cover (2) to the top of the vehicle and install the retaining screws (1). Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in.

lbs.).

5. Install the rear condenser cover bracket (2) onto the rear condenser bracket (5) and install the four retaining bolts (3). Tighten the bolts securely.
6. Install the nut and bolt (4) that secure the rear A/C suction line (1) to the rear condenser cover bracket. Tighten the nut securely.
7. Install the rear condenser cover to the top of the vehicle and install the retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
8. Install the rear A/C expansion valve.
9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

10. Evacuate the rear refrigerant system.
11. If the rear A/C evaporator is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. When replacing multiple

A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Use
only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

12. Charge the rear refrigerant system.
