Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair

Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or
service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before
performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may
result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE: illustration shown with instrument panel top cover removed for clarity.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the front evaporator temperature sensor (1) located on the passenger side of the HVAC housing
(3), just above the heater core tubes.
4. Using needle nose pliers or similar tool, carefully pull the front evaporator temperature sensor straight out of the HVAC housing.
Installation
INSTALLATION
NOTE: illustration shown with instrument panel top cover removed for clarity.
1. Install the front evaporator temperature sensor (1) into the opening in the passenger side of the HVAC housing (3).
2. Connect the wire harness connector (2) to the front evaporator temperature sensor.
3. Install the glove box.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
