THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 1991 FWD VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO JANUARY 21, 1991 AND 1991 AWD VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO
MARCH 1, 1991.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Vehicles may exhibit a tapping noise from the rear suspension/shock absorbers. This noise may be caused by one of two conditions. If the vehicle is
equipped with ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension), the noise will be more noticeable in the tour mode and less noticeable in the sport mode.
1.
An improperly positioned upper spacer on the rear shock absorber.
2.
A shock absorber internal locknut may have become loose due to an impact wrench being used on the upper shock absorber nut. NEVER
LOOSEN THE UPPER SHOCK ABSORBER NUT WITH AN IMPACT WRENCH.
Vehicles exhibiting this noise should have the following procedure performed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves repositioning the shock absorber upper spacer and if necessary replacing the shock absorber.

Remove the interior trim cover to gain access to the upper shock absorber area.
