Fuel Pressure Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:  Before the vacuum hoses are removed, make an identifing mark on them to ensure proper routing when being reconnected.

1.

Remove the vacuum hoses from the solenoid valve.

2.

Disconnect the electrical harness connector.

3.

Connect a hand vacuum pump to nipple (A) of the fuel pressure control valve, and apply vacuum.
Vacuum should LEAK.

4.

Plug nipple (B) of the control valve, and apply vacuum.
Vacuum should NOT leak.

5.

Apply battery voltage to the solenoid terminals, using lead wires with aligator clips. 

6.

Without plugging nipple (B), apply vacuum to nipple (A).
Vacuum should LEAK.

Control Valve Resistance Check

7.

Using an ohmmeter, check the solenoid coils resistance.
Refer to SPECIFICATIONS/ELECTRICAL.

8.

If the solenoid tests results deviate, replace the solenoid valve.
