Impact Sensor: Service and Repair

    Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system component, you must first disarm the airbag system as outlined under 
Maintenance procedures/ airbag system arming disarming. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then wait 2 minutes before working on vehicle.

2.

Remove front splash shield extension.

3.

Disconnect front impact sensor connector.

4.

Remove front impact sensor.

5.

Inspect sensor for dents, cracks, rust or deformities.

6.

Measure resistance of impact sensor. Resistance should be between 1960 and 2040 ohms.

7.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Bend wiring harness slightly, to reduce slack in harness, and secure in clip on front impact sensor.
b. Install impact sensor so that the upper surface of the front impact sensor is flush with the installation surface.

c. Do not connect battery ground cable. Refer to "Diagnosis & Testing," in the "Self Test Procedures" section using the "System

Check" procedure.
