Stealth R/T V6-2972cc 3.0L DOHC (1991)
Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
1. Disable airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Remove air bag module and airbag clock spring, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems).
CAUTION: Do not use excessive force to disconnect clock spring. Store airbag assembly in dry place with pad cover face up.
3. Remove steering wheel attaching nut.
4. Using suitable steering wheel removal tool, remove steering wheel.
CAUTION: Do not use hammer to remove steering wheel as damage may occur.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque steering wheel attaching nut to 29 lb-ft.
b. Install clock spring and airbag, refer to BODY ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND ENTERTAINMENT/PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIR BAG
.
WARNING: If clock spring is not properly aligned, steering wheel may not be completely rotational, or flat cable within clock spring
may be severed impaired normal SRS operation which may cause personal injury.
c. Enable airbag, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
