Idle Speed: Adjustments
Fixed Speed Adjustment Screw (SAS)
CAUTION: The Fixed Speed Adjustment Screw (SAS) should not be adjusted. Precise adjustments and settings were performed by the manufacturer.
If the adjustment has been altered, readjust as follows.
Fixed Idle Speed Adjusting Screw
1. Loosen the accelerator cable.
2. Loosen the Fixed SAS lock nut.
3. Turn the Fixed SAS inward (counterclockwise) until the throttle valve is completely closed.
4. Turn the screw clockwise until it makes light contact with the throttle lever.
5. Continue turning the screw clockwise an additional 1-1/4 turns.
6. While holding the Fixed SAS (so that it will not turn) tighten the lock nut securely.
7. Check and adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and accelerator cable tension if needed.
8. Check the curb idle speed and adjust if necessary.
