Premature Fuel Nozzle Shut-Off

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Repeated premature fuel nozzle shut-offs with or without fuel spitback from the fuel filler tube when using normal or high flow rate gas pumps.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves repositioning the fuel filler vent tube.
1.
Remove the fuel cap and drain fuel tank below the filler tube level.
2.
Remove the (3) fuel filler tube screws from the housing assembly located inside the fuel fill door.
3.
Loosen the hose clamp at the fuel tank fill neck insert.
4.
Separate the fuel filler hose from the fuel tank. Make sure fuel filler vent tube is free from any obstructions.
5.
Re-install the fuel filler vent tube and hose assembly on the fuel tank fill neck insert. Use the centering ribs to make certain that the air vent tube is
in the positioning ring of the tank insert. If installation requires excessive force, vent tube may not be positioned properly. Remove and re-install
again.
6.
Install the hose clamp and tighten to 3.5 +/- 0.5 N-m.
7.
Install the (3) fuel filler tube screws to housing assembly.
8.
Fill with gasoline to test for proper operation. If necessary repeat procedure to get the air vent tube in the proper position.
9.
Install fuel cap.
