Solenoid Control Valve Replacement

Removal of the steering gear assembly from the vehicle is required when replacing the solenoid control valve.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect solenoid control valve electrical connector at solenoid control module.
3. Using a one and five-sixteenths inch crowfoot or equivalent, remove solenoid from steering gear.
4. Inspect O-ring seals on solenoid control valve for damage replace as required. Coat with fresh clean power steering fluid prior to installation.
5. Install solenoid control valve by hand until fully seated, then using crowfoot tool or equivalent, tighten to specifications.
6. Connect solenoid electrical connectors. Ensure connector seal is in good condition prior to installation.
7. Road test vehicle or test using DRB scan tool or equivalent, to confirm proper operation of variable assist speed proportional power steering gear.
