Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair
Rear

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove brake drum or disc brake.
3. Remove rear wheel speed sensor.
4. Remove parking brake cable from brake actuator lever.
5. Remove parking brake cable as follows:

a. Position a 1/2 inch box end wrench over cable retainer to collapse retaining tabs. 
b. Pull brake cable from brake support plate.

6. Remove rear hub/bearing assembly retaining nut, then the washer and hub/bearing assembly from knuckle.
7. Remove four attaching bolts from rear support plate and knuckle.
8. Remove brake support plate, brake shoes and wheel cylinder as an assembly from knuckle.
9. Remove attaching nuts and bolts holding forward and rear lateral links to knuckle.

10. Disconnect ball joint stud from knuckle following procedure outlined under "Control Arm, Replace".
11. Remove knuckle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
