Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Testing and Inspection

1. Drain the engine coolant. (Refer to Maintenance Service- Engine Coolant.)
2. Remove the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.

3. Immerse the unit in water of 70 °C (158 °F) to measure the resistance.

Standard value: 104 ± 13.5 ohms

Reference Value

4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Reinstall it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge. If not within the standard value,

replace it.

5. After checking, apply the MOPAR(R) Part No.4318034 or equivalent around the threads of the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
6. Add engine coolant. (Refer to Maintenance Service Engine Coolant.)
