NOTE:
THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO ALL 2001/2002 MODELS AND 2003 MODELS BUILT TO JULY 23, 2002 EQUIPPED WITH A 3.0L
ENGINE AND 15 INCH SINGLE PISTON BRAKE ASSEMBLY.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicles may exhibit a squeaking sound from the front brakes. This sound typically occurs at low speeds with light brake applications (possibly
noticed in parking lot maneuvers). This sound may be caused by the brake caliper support and brake disc reaching a natural frequency that can be heard
as a squeak or squeal.
DIAGNOSIS:
It is important to make a note of the conditions present when the customer recognizes the brake squeak (speed, while turning, light brake applications,
etc.). Verify the noise so when repairs are made, they can be confirmed for effectiveness. If this condition is identified, and no other contributing causes
from brake pads or discs can be determined, perform the Repair Procedure.
