Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair
Catalytic Converter Location Viper
REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle and remove sill panel. Apply penetrating oil to nuts and bolts to be removed.
2. Catalytic converters are integral with the muffler. Remove bolts at sealing ring coupling. Separate at the coupling.
3. Remove supports from exhaust system.
NOTE: When replacement is required on any component of the exhaust system, the manufacturer recommends that original equipment parts be
used.
INSTALLATION
1. Assemble sealing ring connection pipes and supports loosely to permit alignment of all parts.
2. Begining at sealing ring, align and torque shoulder bolts to 250 in-lbs (28 Nm).
3. Working from the front of system, align each component to maintain position and proper clearance from body parts.
4. Tighten all supports to proper torques and clearances.
