2. Using a pencil, mark point "A" at the top of shoe pad face where it contacts the disc. Do this to both ends (leading and trailing) of the pad.
3. Measure up 5 mm (3/16 inch) from the shoe plate on each end of the shoe pad, and mark the pad with a pencil at point "C".
4. Above point "C", measure across the face of the shoe pad 13 mm (1/2 inch), and mark the pad at point "B".
5. Using a straight edge and a pencil, mark the triangular pattern "A-B-C" laid out in the above steps.
6. Using a file or grinder, remove the pad material in the "A-B-C" triangular areas on each end of the shoe pad.
7. Repeat the procedure to the remaining rear brake pads.
8. Reinstall the brake shoes on the vehicle.
