Audible Warning Device Control Module: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION
Buzzer Module
The buzzer module is used to alert the operator that one, or more, of the following conditions exist: the keys are in the ignition with the drivers
door open, the headlamps are on with the drivers door open, and/or the seat belts are not buckled.
Power for the buzzer module is supplied on circuit G5. This circuit is protected by a 5 amp fuse located in cavity 11 of the fuse block and is HOT
in the START and RUN position only. Power for the fuse is supplied on circuit A21 from the ignition switch.
Power for the A21 circuit is supplied on circuit A1. The A1 circuit is protected by a 40 amp fuse located in cavity 19 of the Power Distribution
Center (PDC).
Battery voltage is also supplied to the buzzer module on circuit F31. This circuit is HOT at all times and protected by a 15 amp fuse located in
cavity 3 of the PDC.
Circuit Z1 provides the ground for the module.
Headlamp On Chime
The headlamp ON buzzer is used to indicate to the operator that the headlamps or parking lamps are ON when the drivers door is OPEN.
If the lamps are ON and the drivers door is OPENED, a ground path is completed from the G26 circuit at the buzzer module, through the
headlamp switch, to the door latch switch. Ground for the switch is provided on circuit Z1.
The buzzer module senses that the headlamps are ON and activates the buzzer.
Key-In Switch
The key-in buzzer is used to indicate to the operator that the key is in the ignition with the drivers door OPEN. If the key is in the ignition and the
drivers door is OPEN, a ground path is completed from the G26 circuit at the chime module, through the CLOSED key-in switch, to the G16
circuit and terminating at the door latch switch. Ground for the switch is provided on the Z1 circuit.
