Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect for a damaged or broken coil spring.
2. Inspect for damaged, worn or broken shock absorber mounting isolator bushings.
3. Check for a broken or damaged coil spring lower seat on the shock absorber.
4. Check for a broken or damaged coil spring retainer.
5. Check to be sure the jounce bumper is on the shock absorber rod. Also, inspect the jounce bumper for signs of damage or deterioration.
6. Check shock absorber for evidence of fluid running from the upper end of the fluid reservoir. (Actual leakage will be a stream of fluid running down

the side and dripping off the bottom of the shock absorber). A slight amount of seepage between the shock rod and seal is not unusual and does not
affect performance of the shock absorber.
