Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Front Wheel Speed Sensor - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: Before proceeding review Warnings and Cautions. See: Service Precautions/Brakes - Caution.
1. Raise and support vehicle. See: Maintenance.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly. See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Tires and Wheels - Removal
3. Disconnect vehicle wiring harness from wheel speed sensor wiring connector at frame rail.
4. Remove sensor wiring connector clip from frame rail.
5. Remove sensor harness from routing clips along brake flex hose.
6. Remove bolt (3) fastening sensor head (2) to steering knuckle (1).
CAUTION: When removing a wheel speed sensor from the knuckle, do not use pliers on the sensor head. This may damage the sensor
head. If the sensor has seized, use a hammer and a punch to tap the edge of the sensor head ear, rocking the sensor side-to-side until free.
7. Carefully remove sensor head (2) from steering knuckle.
