Carburetor Float: Adjustments
Float Level DRY
Float Level Adjustment
1.
Remove the carburetor air horn, gasket, power piston assembly, and the float bowl insert.
2.
Hold the float bowl retainer in place and push the float down lightly against the needle.
3.
Measure the height of the float from the top of the casting to the top of the float at a point 4.8 mm (3/16 in.) from the end of the float. The float
level should be within 1.59 mm (1/16 in.) of the listed specification, refer to SPECIFICATIONS for correct setting based upon carburetor
number.
4.
If the float level reading is low, hold the retainer in place and bend the float upward until the reading is correct.
5.
If the float level reading is high, hold the retainer in place and bend the float downward until the reading is correct.
6.
After adjustment, recheck the float level, and reset as necessary.
7.
Install the plastic float bowl insert, power piston assembly, and air horn, with a new gasket.
