Water Pump: Service and Repair
When it becomes necessary to remove a fan clutch of the silicone type, the assembly must be supported in the vertical position to prevent
leaks of silicone fluid from the clutch mechanism. This loss of fluid will render the fan clutch inoperative.
6-225 (3.7L)
1. Drain cooling system, then remove battery from vehicle.
2. Loosen alternator, air pump, power steering pump or idler pulley, if equipped, then remove all drive belts.
3. Remove fan, spacer or fluid unit, pulley and bolts as an assembly.
4. Remove fan shroud if equipped.
5. Remove A/C compressor and air pump bracket to water pump attaching bolts, if equipped, then position compressor and air pump aside. Keep
compressor in upright position.
6. Disconnect heater hoses.
7. Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the water pump.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
