The kickdown band adjusting screw is located on left side of transmission case, Fig. 24.
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then loosen adjusting screw locknut and back off nut approximately 5 turns.
2.
Turn adjusting screw and check for binding. If screw binds, lubricate threads as required.
3.
Torque adjusting screw to 72 inch lbs. on 1987-88 vehicles or 47-50 inch lbs. on 1989-92 vehicles, then back off adjusting screw 2 1/2 turns.
4.
While holding adjusting screw in position, torque locknut to 30 ft-lbs, on all Chrysler vehicles and 1989-92 Jeep vehicles or 35 ft-lbs, on 1988
Jeep vehicles.
