1991 (AD) Ram Pickup/Ram Cab & Chassis (2WD & 4WD - Gas engines only)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

If a gasoline powered vehicle experiences a rough idle and black smoke from the exhaust, it may be caused by a kink in the fuel return hose at the fuel
tank. Vehicles built after October 11, 1990 have been modified and are not affected by this condition. Vehicles equipped with a gasoline engine
experiencing this condition should have this procedure performed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This procedure involves removing and discarding last (most rearward) fuel line bundle attaching clip. This will allow the fuel line ends to be lowered and
will eliminate the kinking of the fuel return hose.

1.

Remove the fuel tank as described in the 1991 Rear Wheel Drive Truck Service Manual, Publication # 81-310-1108.

2.

Remove and discard the last (most rearward) metal fuel line bundle attaching clip located on the left frame rail. This clip is located directly to left
of the fuel pump module.

3.

Install the fuel tank as described in the service manual.
