Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect wire connector.
2.
Remove sensor from exhaust manifold. On 4-151 engines, use tool J-29533.
3.
Clean threads in manifold.
4.
Coat threads in replacement sensor with an anti-seize compound and install sensor into exhaust manifold.
5.
On 4-151 engines, torque sensor to 20 - 25 ft. lbs. using tool J-29533.
6.
Make sure that wire terminal ends are properly seated in connector, then connect wire connector. Do not push rubber boot down on sensor body
closer than 1/2 inch from base. Also, oxygen sensor pigtail wires cannot be spliced or soldered. If broken, replace sensor.
