Idle Speed: Adjustments
Idle Speed Adjustment

Preferred setting is the midpoint of range given.

Make all adjustments with engine at operating temperature.

Slow Idle:

1981-88 6-cyl., disconnect solevac electrical and vacuum leads.  Set idle speed to specification.  Apply manifold vacuum to vacuum actuator and set
actuator speed to specification.  With AC, turn unit on, apply battery voltage to the solenoid electrical connector and adjust speed to specification.

All engines equipped with shutdown solenoids, electrically disconnect the solenoid and set shutdown speed to specification.
All engines with AC speedup solenoids (ex. 1981-84 6-cyl.), turn AC unit on and set speedup speed to specification with solenoid plunger fully
extended.

Fast Idle:
