Correction requires replacement of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
Important:
Most of the subject vehicles are already equipped with the latest ECU, either as delivered to dealers or from previous service repair. Already corrected
units can be identified by the presence of a daub of red paint on the visible end of the clamshell that houses the ECU -- Location A of Figure 1 -- or by
the Homologation Number HOM 7700 742 979 on the ECU below the part number at Location B of Figure 2.
If ECU replacement is required (no daub of paint and/or absence of the 7700 742 979 Homologation Number), replace the ECU as follows with P/N
T1464854 (7701464854).

Removal
The ECU is located in a plastic clamshell that is mounted under the black plastic cover (C of Figure 3) on the left inner strut tower in the engine
compartment.
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2.
Remove the wing nut (E of Figure 3).
