DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Safety Recall # 745 -- Heater Core Bypass Valve

This service requirement applies only to 1988 model year Renault Medallion and 1989 model year Eagle Medallion vehicles.

The potential for passenger compartment heater core failure exists on the above listed vehicles. To correct this condition, a coolant temperature
controlled heater core fluid bypass valve must be installed.
Parts Packages:
^
Two (2) unique parts packages are required for this recall depending upon the vehicle model year. Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the
recall were invoiced, will receive enough of each Bypass Valve Package to service about 25% of those vehicles.
Dealers should determine which parts package is required for each vehicle at the time appointments are scheduled to assure that the correct parts
package is available when the customer arrives. Refer to the Parts section for details.

SAFETY RECALL TO INSTALL A HEATER CORE BYPASS VALVE IN YOUR VEHICLE
Dear Renault or Eagle Medallion Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1988 Renault Medallion and 1989 Eagle
Medallion vehicles.
The problem is...
The heater core on your Medallion (identified on the enclosed form), may fail and allow engine cooling system steam to enter the passenger
compartment. This may cause reduced driver visibility and could result in an accident without prior warning.
What Chrysler and your dealer will do...
Chrysler will repair your Medallion free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will install a coolant temperature controlled heater core fluid
bypass valve which will prevent prolonged exposure of the core to high temperature engine cooling fluid. In addition, a splash shield will be installed
under the instrument panel. The work will take about one hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer
appointments are scheduled and processed.

Simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before
your appointment.

Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. It explains the required service to the dealer.
