Transmission Mode Switch: Service and Repair
This procedure consists of replacing the multi-function switch by cutting the wire harness connecting the computer assembly and the
multi-function switch. The new multi-function switch service kit includes one multi-function switch with a wire harness and a male
connector, one female connector, six male terminals and six seals.
1. Remove switch from transaxle.
2. Cut the harness the same length as the replacement harness.
3. On the computer side, remove approximately 2.6 inches of outer insulation from the cable end. Remove .020 inch of insulation from each wire.
4. Install a seal onto each wire.
5. Install and crimp the 6 male terminals onto the wire ends. Some computers are connected to the multi-function switch wire 7 wires. If this is
the case, cut the yellow or white wire on the computer side of the harness flush with the protective sleeve.
6. When installing the wires into the connector, ensure the wire color codes are not interchanged.
7. Install the connector locking tab.
